Today we witnessed the very probable death of an E46, but they died fighting the evil Jeep liberty.
Also, a great demonstration of why SUVs are so dangerous, the BMW dived under the crash structure rather than into it.

The e46 saw the Liberty wasn’t wearing its protective rear wheel and attacked

Well, on the plus side the Bimmer wasn’t taking up the bus/bike lane, right?

I don’t think the insurance will think that way....

No, but on the sight of the obstacle many moved to the bike lane to overtake the, erm, mess. deep down it was clearly the Chevy’s fault.

If the majority of new cars sold are SUVs and the second-hand market is being filled with SUVs, and more and more people are driving SUVs, and the majority of cars on the road are becoming SUVs, should you re-phrase your statement as “Also, a great demonstration of why cars are so dangerous, the BMW dived under the crash structure rather than into it.”

Yeah, that is true. But in the final balance, as far as braking, manouvering, and not rolling over, cars are significantly safer.

True if the SUV suddenly (and illegally) entered the space in front of you.
Not true if you are tailgating, and your significantly- safer, better- breaking, and more-maneuverable car can’t stop quicker than the SUV in front of you.

Of course. This accident in particular is clearly driver error by the BMW. Though the cause was that Chevy that got slightly hit.

shame it didn’t take out the Captiva in front of the jeep instead
